Shot on Cockatoo Island, the largest island in Sydney Harbour. Located at the junction of the Parramatta and Lane Cove rivers, Cockatoo Island is a former imperial prison, industrial school, reformatory and gaol. It is also the site of one of Australia’s biggest shipyards during the twentieth century. The first of its two dry docks was built by convicts and was completed in 1857. The island’s maritime industrial activity ceased in 1992. Shot with my Sony Alpha 350. Focal length: 35mm / Aperture: f5.6 / ISO: 400

I had the pleasure of working with the boys from super FLORENCE jam a couple of days ago – shooting some promo images for their upcoming album release. They were great to work with, and I think their music definitely deserves a listen. The Harbour Bridge is iconic for Sydneysiders. The usual image is of a side shot showing the centre span but there are so many possible views other than the tourist one. It can sneak up on you quite unexpectedly. Featured in Urban Art group (3 May09). / Featured in Dimensions (30 May 09). / Featured in Australia! You’re standing in it! 10 June 09. / Featured in the Sydney group 12 July 09. Also chosen for the RedBubble book, The City.

On the coastal walk between Clovelly & Coogee. / I liked the colours & shapes of the rocks especially with the beautiful ocean as a backdrop. This section of the coast is a medium length walk from my new place & I thought it was about time I had a look around the area. Featured in the Sydney group, July 12, 2009.

I realise that mY drawing is quite primitive. This is my first real attempt at drawing a complete picture and calling it art. it actually won me $300 in an exhibition. I used coloured gel and ink pens. My method was based almost completely on intuition, have no preparation or planning, i just drew and made it up as i went. it was an emotional outlet for me. if i had a button inside that said ‘inspiration’ I would push it every morning before I got out of bed, and draw great pictures with ease. But i only get fleeting glimpses of my ability. Yet I hear a voice inside me saying that I do not really understand or comprehend what I am truly capable of.
Part of my 2:14am series (Final one I swear….. unless i make another good one) Its hard to be alone when the voices are there to keep you company, they may be terrible and destructive but they are still there, it is sort of comforting. / Wish they would go, but not until a voice with a mouth can appear and take their place. It may be a while. / To let go those you’ve known for so long that you know none other, it becomes hard to judge a voice which is new and never blown across your ear. / So as new its discarded before its siren is released, it is not the sound known, the sounds of current are all that are and they do not go without a fight, keeping them is the only way to silence such a sound. / You cannot hear silence because they yell, so you let them yell to hear the silence. Do you ever hear Silence?

David Bowie ….eat your heart out….. another portrait shot from the series of slide projection photographs taken by my late father. This so reminds me of the sort of make up David Bowie used to wear back in the days…... / . /
