This is Coral Bays new boat marina. It was built to alleviate the damage the launching of the boats to the main public beach had caused. You can tell as the coral is not as abundant as it once was in that area. Although it was being shared with the swimmers as there is a large sandbar they used to drive on to launch their boats. It is a much safer and more pleasant place to swim not having to worry about the traffic of both cars and boats.
One of the many tropical fish found on the Great barrier reef , Far North Queensland. / They can change sex from male to female and mainly live on the bottom or mid water. Thats is what makes this shot a little unusual. / I was standing in the cockpit on Cool Runnings and the Maori Wrasse came up to about 1 metre below the surface and had a small sucker fish beside him. / www.coolrunningscharters.net Canon 5D / 70-200 f2.8 Is USM / Polarizer Filter / and the beautiful blue waters of the Barrier Reef.
Another much brighter day, same holiday, but this time a rocky place around Hat Head National Park, NSW. Low tide bared bottom part of this rocky island, the waves going through the channel were absolutely huge. Unfortunately even at low tide it was still too deep and dangerous to cross and to get to the little paradise on the other side of this tiny rocky island. Didn’t get there! BEST VIEWED LARGER Ok I get home after a long day at the office, I get in the door and think daylight saving might allow me a sunset shot. / I think oh no , wont go out, well maybe i will , maybe i wont. ... here I know the proper saying is “two’s company, three’s a crowd” , but those three looked cozy together / :-)) Coastal shot near Forster, NSW on stop-over on the way back from Crescent Head. The weather turned nasty – we were driving towards some massive clouds which looked mighty fine on the horizon. Unfortunately by the time we stopped, the low clouds were upon us, and a little drizzle started for a couple of minutes, to give way to some sunshine. That didn’t last long though. So that great location is very much on a list for the next time I am at Forster, hopefully in a month or so. Thank you for looking, please view large. Sculpture at a national park on the north side of Sydney Harbour. I think it’s near Mosman/Taronga Park Zoo. I took this a few months back, played around with it in PS, then promptly forgot all about it and only found it again today. It’s a hassle having over 30GB of photos sometimes. You remember a photo, go looking for it, find something else and forget about the photo you went looking for! 27 October 2009 Featured in UK to Australia and Back

Please View Large Wikipedia © It was founded as a Savigniac abbey in January 1135 and was absorbed by the Cistercian order in 1147. It wasn’t an easy start for the community who had had to move five times before settling at New Byland, near Coxwold in 1177. Its early history was marked by disputes with no fewer than four other religious establishments: (Furness Abbey, Calder Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey and Newburgh Priory). However, once it had overcome this bad start, it was described in the late 1300s as “one of the three shining lights of the north”. Its financial success was not as great as that of places like Rievaulx, but it was famed for its sheep rearing and wool exports. Its church was said to be among the finest 12th-century churches in Europe. It was dissolved on 30 November 1538. In 1539, its site was granted to Sir William Pickering. Nikon D300 / Sigma 18-200mm
